The Fairmount Innovation Lab seeks experienced entrepreneurs, professionals with a sector or skill area specialty (e.g. fashion, event production, accounting, non profit budgets, etc) and startup buddies/MBA students to provide project-specific support and guidance to  early stage startups in our Accelerator. This is an opportunity to volunteer for social impact.

Time Frame for Cycles:

  • Fall Cycle:          09/2016 - 01/2017
  • Spring Cycle:    02/2017 - 05/2017


  • Accelerator:  1.5 hours per week per team
  • Post Accelerator:  As needed, in 1.5 hour blocks.  In-person, Skype, or Google Hangout

Expert Mentors

The Fairmount Innovation Lab seeks the best entrepreneurs, executives, investors and technical experts to mentor early stage startups in our Accelerator Programs. As a mentor you will provide support and guidance to an entrepreneur as they move their business forward. Applications are welcome year-round.  

Expert Mentors will:

  • Participate in mentor-only sessions and gatherings
  • Meet in person (or on the phone if necessary) with entrepreneur to discuss progress
  • Work with the entrepreneur to identify and achieve their goals
  • Provide encouragement to sustain the entrepreneur’s motivation

Startup Buddies/MBA Students

MBA students/consultants will be matched with entrepreneurs seeking to move from idea to launch to viable startup. Even a small amount of support and encouragement can make a huge difference to a typically under-resourced woman or minority led enterprise and the right kind of support will have phenomenal impact.

Ready to make phenomenal impact? Applications are welcome year-round.       

Startup Buddies will:

  • Work with entrepreneurs to identify and help them achieve their goals
  • Meet in person (or on the phone if necessary) with entrepreneurs to discuss progress
  • Provide encouragement to sustain the entrepreneur’s motivation
